What inspired you to start a company like Bohten?

Our ultimate mission is to create a zero-waste facility in Africa that will not only serve to create jobs but also educate people the importance of eye care, sustainable design and social entrepreneurship. One of the biggest issues in Africa is the lack of access to eyewear for protection from UV rays.

Where did the idea come from?

I got inspired when visiting Ghana in 2009. I visited my parents’ hometown, Kwahu, which is the highest habitable place in Ghana where quality of the air was a lot better as compared to the city of Accra due to less polluting activity. I wanted create a brand that is fashion forward but also teaches people about the importance of our ecosystem. Hence, our “Eco-Luxury” concept.

What are the challenges you’ve faced creating a brand like bohten?

The biggest challenge I have faced is finding the right people to realize your dream and take it to the next level. I have been blessed to be able to surround myself with young talented individuals who have the same drive as me.

If you could have a one on one with anyone in the world, who would it be and why?

If have a one on one if anyone It would be Elon Musk because I really appreciate what he has been able to do with Tesla Motors. He has completely changed the automobile industry forever. He is a visionary who has taken sustinable design to a the next level.

What inspires you in the world today?

Seeing young entrepreneurs pursue a mission and achieve  their goals. Sometimes the best way to change the game is to create it.

Do you have any words of inspiration for anyone who wants to make a change for the better?

I encourage all young adults to follow their dreams boldly. The only way to create social impact in the world is leading by example. There will always be times when you face extreme challenges but with persistence and discipline, you will excel in whatever journey you undertake. “
